For whatever reason, it was determined that the true sequel to Metal Gear
(seen on the MSX) would not make it to the NES. Given the success of the
Nintendo version of Metal Gear, a team at Konami decided to make a whole
new Metal Gear sequel. Unfortunately, some of things that made the original
so great are lost: the emphasis is placed more on action than sneaking around.
Given the constraints of the game controls, this was not a good idea. And
the side-scrolling scenes are little less than idiotic. But while the Snake's
Revenge doesn't quite live up to its predecessor, it's still fun in
its own way (though much too tough and frustrating) with many locations and
a handful of neat weapons.
