The original Castlevania is still the primary game of the series that sticks out in everyone's mind. One of Konami's first true classics on the platform (at least in America), Castlevania put in the shoes of vampire hunter Simon Belmont in his plight against the evil Count Dracula. While often quite frustrating (not helped by the somewhat stiff controls and occasionally relentless enemies) Castlevania still manages to be extremely fun. It also has some of the best music of any game on the system (though its quality was surpassed by its sequel, Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest.
